While we try to do as much as possible to save your teeth, it is not always possible. Extractions are sometimes the only successful treatment for teeth with a deep stress fracture, a substantial amount of decay, or severe breakage. Additional reasons for extractions include periodontal disease or poorly positioned teeth. The long-term health of your mouth depends on the health of each tooth. At Timberview Family Dentistry, we can determine if a tooth extraction is necessary and discuss the replacement options with you.
Grafting is a procedure performed after an extraction to hold the bone and increase the options for replacement at a later date. Grafting also helps maintain bone level of teeth around the tooth that was removed. The procedure takes place on the same day as the tooth extraction.
